The yard sale season isn't really underway yet here in ND, but there have been two church sales in the last two weeks. Both of them have set aside the first hour of the sale for "early birds" with a $2 charge to get in early.
This is something that I began seeing in this area last summer at several church sales and a few higher quality yard sales.
Just curious if anyone else seeing the same thing in other parts of the country, and if so, what is being charged.
Also of interest, how much would you be willing to pay to get in early to what looked like a promising sale? Most places here seem to charge $2 although I did pay $5 for early access to a good quality sale last summer. _________________ Gary H

| I've seen several churches charging for early birds. In fact, some have a special "preview" evening the night before the actual sale. They charge $10 or even $15 for this priviledge (this is in the Washington, DC area). It is well worth the admission cost, especially if the church has a lot of wealthy parishioners who donate good stuff. I see a lot of dealers whipping through there looking for their specialties. |

I guess we are just behind the times here in the backwoods.
I've been paying $50 or even $100 for early buyer's rights at large flea markets and antique shows for many years, but only started seeing it at garage/yard sales in this area last summer. _________________ Gary H
