Hello All!
I just learned a bad lesson about USPS Postal Money Orders. If I'm wrong, please let me know.
A super nice REPEAT customer sent me a USPS Postal Money order. I never received it. We found out that to trace them, you have to go to the Post Office with the stub, PAY $3.15 and it may take up to 60 days to trace???????????
That's horrible!
I was paid once with a 7-11 Money Order and it has a 1-800 number on it so you can trace them immediately and for free.

I hope I'm wrong on the USPS Money Order. This is what the website says if I'm in the right area of the website:

"There is NO STOP PAYMENT process for money orders. Additionally, they cannot be tracked or traced within the mailstream.

To find out if a money order has been cashed, or to request a copy of the cashed money order, file a claim or file an inquiry into a (domestic or international) money order:

Take the original money order purchase receipt to a local Post Officeâ„¢ location.
Fill out PS Form 6401 (Money Order Inquiry).
Pay the $3.15 fee.
You may file the claim at any time after purchasing the money order. However:

For a Domestic Money Order Inquiry it may take up to 60 days to receive information, replacement will not be made before 60 days after the date of issuance."

Ouch! This puts me in an awkward position with a very nice customer.
Take Care,
Sandra

Hi Sandra,

Sorry to hear about your trouble.

If it is a repeat customer, would they send you another payment? I guess it is possible someone else got the MO and cashed it. Hard to know what to do? I think if it was for a large amount I would trace it. Hope you can get it resolved and still keep a good customer.
